Device Therapies for Heart Failure Webcast is organized by The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUMC) and will be held during Jun 09, 2017 - Jun 09, 2020. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit / 1.00 MOC Points

Conference Description :
We will review heart failure staging algorithm and discuss the role of device-based therapies in the treatment of each stage of symptomatic heart failure including Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICDs). We will also discuss the emerging indication of a newer defibrillation strategies (wearable ICD and subcutaneous ICD) and highlight the recent expansion of Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT) to include patients with mild symptoms.

Conference Objectives are :
As a result of this educational activity, webcast participants will be able to:
• DESCRIBE the primary prevention strategies of the prevention of sudden cardiac death in chronic systolic heart failure and the role of Cardiac Resynchronization therapy (CRT); and
• UNDERSTAND indications of the new defibrillation strategies (wearable ICD and subcutaneous ICD) in the prevention of sudden cardiac death.

• Medications versus implantable cardiac defibrillators
• Implantable cardiac monitoring devices
• Precautions when caring for patients with a ventricular assist device
• Complications of ventricular assist devices
• Investigational devices
• Current role of the intra-aortic balloon pump
