Practical Medication Management and Currently Available Options for Obesity Treatment consists of 3 presentations:
In Practical Medication Management for Obesity Treatment, Dr. Lazarus will discuss using FDA-approved anti-obesity medications as part of a patient's overall treatment for overweight/obesity.
In Obesity Medications: What Are the Current Options?, Dr. Butsch will present a comprehensive review of the currently available anti-obesity medications that may be used as part of a patient's individualized treatment plan.
Drs. Butsch and Lazarus will then come together to address attendee questions, during the spring 2016 Pharmacotherapy Panel Discussion.
Conference Objectives are:
• Learn to identify medications that are iatrogenic for weight gain and select better alternatives.
• Review all currently available FDA-approved anti-obesity medications.
• Develop an algorithm to compare treatment options through the use of patient case discussions.
• Understand that combination therapies may target limited groups of patients effectively.
• Identify new approved anti-obesity medications.
• Identify emerging anti-obesity agents in clinical development.
• Recognize patient heterogeneity and the need for individualized treatments given variation in response.
