Overview
The Critical Limb Ischemia & Vascular Introductory Course provides a comprehensive overview to the evaluation and management of patients presenting with critical limb ischemia. An expert faculty will review the epidemiology of critical limb ischemia, case studies, and current literature. Additional lectures will present recommendations for patient assessment and management.
Noninvasive and invasive vascular tissue perfusion assessment, endovascular and surgical techniques for improving distal lower extremity blood flow, options for local wound care to optimize tissue salvage and the integration of hyperbaric oxygen treatment will be reviewed. Case presentations will be used to represent the critical decision steps and management algorithms used to achieve optimal outcomes in the care of these patients.
Course Learning Objectives
• Understand Pathogenesis of Arterial Vascular Disease
• Define the Ischemic Limb
• Understand Clinical Non-Invasive Assessment of Arterial Insufficiency
• Describe Endovascular Interventions
• Understand Vascular Surgery
• Understand the Role of Adjunctive Modalities In Limb Salvage
• Determine the Algorithm for Assessment of the Ischemic Limb and Case Presentations
