OVERVIEW
Comprehensive Treatment for Medication Assisted Treatment is organized by National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) and will be held on Apr 25, 2018.
The target audience for this medical event is Addiction professionals, employee assistance professionals, social workers, mental health counselors, professional counselors, psychologists, and other helping professionals that are interested in learning about addiction-related matters. This CME Conference has been approved for a maximum of 1.5 CEs credits.
Course Description:
The presentation will include a discussion of different types of medication-assisted treatments for alcohol, nicotine, and opioids with an emphasis on the role of the doctor, medical staff, and substance use disorder counselor. Included will be information about each of the medications, and what they are designed to do. The conversation will progress into how the doctor identifies clients that would benefit from MAT, as well as the information that the counselor needs to have available to engage the client, help to develop compliance with the regimen, and how to prepare the client for eventual withdrawal from the long-term maintenance medications, or for ongoing maintenance. This part of the discussion includes the pros and cons of the client's decision, and how to implement that decision.
Conference Objectives are :
• Recognize how long-term pharmacotherapy fits into the context of overall addiction treatment.
• Describe types of pharmacotherapy for smoking cessation, alcohol dependence, and opioid dependence.
• Learn tasks specific to working with Medication Assisted Treatment clients.
