Description:
Residents in post-acute and long-term care (PALTC) settings bear a disproportionate burden of Clostridioides difficile infections (CDI) in the US. However, clinical teams practicing in these facilities often struggle with appropriate diagnosis and treatment of CDI, implementation of antimicrobial stewardship programs, and infection control practices to limit the CDI burden.

Learning Objectives:
• Address the burden and quality of life impact of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) on patients in post-acute and long-term care (PALTC) settings
• Identify patients who are at risk for primary or recurrent CDI and align current practices with evidence-based recommendations for appropriate CDI testing and diagnosis
• Apply current guidelines and clinical trial data to select optimal therapies for patients with primary or recurrent CDI
• Incorporate interprofessional strategies for patient-centered CDI care, including care coordination and shared decision-making with patients and caregivers
