Course Description:
Patients often present with regional pain in a joint like the wrist, or a region such as the elbow and forearm. Others may present with a generalized polyarthritis affecting many joints. This session presents a clinical history and physical findings of three patients and discusses appropriate evaluation and management of these common disorders.
Learning Objectives:
• Evaluate patients presenting with regional wrist pain, elbow pain, and a generalized arthritis
• Recognize the features that distinguish an inflammatory arthritis such as rheumatoid arthritis from a degenerative arthritis like osteoarthritis
• Recognize common and rare causes of elbow and forearm pain
• Evaluate and treat a patient with early rheumatoid arthritis
