Conference Description:
Diabetes mellitus, which is defined by chronic hyperglycemia, can be understood as a disorder of carbohydrate intolerance. This lecture will discuss the rationale for recommending a carbohydrate-restricted diet for the treatment of diabetes mellitus and highlight data from clinical trials and clinical practice using a low-carbohydrate, ketogenic diet.

• Understand the rationale for recommending carbohydrate restriction for diabetes.
