Target Audience:
This accredited activity has been designed for pharmacists.
Goal:
To update specialty pharmacists and other interested pharmacists on the medical applications of pharmacologic agents derived from cannabidiol (CBD) with a focus on the treatment of severe seizure disorders to optimize patient care and outcomes.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
• Identify rarer seizure types such as Lennox-Gastaut and Dravet syndromes
• Discuss current gaps in catastrophic epilepsy/seizure management and applicability of newer and investigational approaches
• Analyze current state of medical marijuana use in seizure disorders and related conditions, including safety and efficacy of newly approved cannabidiol
• Formulate effective management strategies for patients prescribed cannabidiol for severe seizure disorders
