Avera Perinatal TeleECHO - Sexual Violence is organized by Avera Continuing Education (CE).

Description:
The Avera Perinatal TeleECHO is an educational series composed of obstetric related content. This series is designed to connect providers in a collaborative effort on improving obstetric care and access to obstetric care in SD. This is a recording of the live session that discusses sexual violence and how this can affect the management of care.

Objectives:

  • Introduce and define sexual violence
  • Discuss the prevalence of sexual violence
  • Discuss brain development, trauma, and the impact trauma has on brain development
  • Explain the neurobiology of trauma
  • Discuss trauma-informed care
  • Discuss the consequences of experiencing violence
  • Describe what a medical-forensic exam is and the parts of an evidence collection kit
  • Develop strategies in a team approach to prevent and manage complications related to high risk pregnancies.

This activity was planned by and for the healthcare team, and learners will receive 1.0 IPCE credits for learning and change. 

Medicine CME: Avera designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME of the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification program.  It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABS credit.
