This course will provide healthcare professionals with a synopsis of dementia and information on how to manage the disease. It covers the risks and benefits of using certain treatments for behavioral issues related to dementia and the emotional stress of caring for dementia patients.

You will learn how to diagnose the early, middle and late findings associated with dementia. You will also be able to list three diagnostic tests and non-medical interventions that can help dementia patients.

Course Objectives:
Differentiate early, middle, and late findings associated with dementia in the assessment of the patient.
Discuss three causes of reversible dementia.
Incorporate three non-drug interventions for a dementia patient who develops behavioral problems.
Discuss the risks and benefits of drugs used to treat behavioral disturbances in dementia.
Discuss the challenges of caregiving of a dementia patient.
