Course Description:
In the United States, an estimated 14.5 million individuals have a history of cancer, representing a prevalent and rapidly growing population. Given this staggering statistic, clinicians often encounter patients with cancer and cancer survivors who have significant cardiovascular risk factors and cardiovascular disease. This course will familiarize the clinical cardiology provider with key principles in cardio-oncology to support the increasing population of patients with cancer undergoing treatment or requiring survivorship care.
Learning Objectives:
• Recognize specific cardiovascular conditions associated with the administration of cancer therapy, and implement surveillance measures for cardiac injury.
• Effectively identify cases of cancer patients and survivors at risk for increased premature cardiovascular events, and identify optimal pharmacologic and lifestyle interventions to improve patient outcomes.
Additional details will be posted as soon as information is available.
