Description:
“Wired and tired” is a phrase that describes so many patients that are seen in our practices but have been told by previous providers that there is NOTHING wrong as they do not fulfill the diagnostic criteria for an ICD-10 code. This lecture will explore in depth both the very subtle signs and symptoms of adrenal fatigue and suboptimal thyroid function in addition to the differential diagnosing of overt endocrine disorders of the adrenal and thyroid glands. The steroidogenic pathways in relation to the production and contribution of pregnenolone and DHEA in “hormonal balancing” will also be discussed. Treatment options will be reviewed that include pharmacology, lifestyle changes, natural therapies and the importance of nutritional supplements.
