Description:
Refresher Courses are sessions captured at past RSNA Annual Meetings focusing on themes of health care reform, payment models, research and innovation, patient-centered radiology, and advances in the different imaging modalities. Refresher Courses are targeted at diagnostic, interventional, and oncologic radiologists and are designed to improve knowledge and competence in responding to the challenges and advancements in the field of radiology. Most courses include an audio-visual presentation, as well as a corresponding transcript.

Learning Objectives:
• Discuss the role of ultrasound in screening for abdominal aortic aneurysms and following endograft repair.
• Describe the ultrasound appearance of aortic and superior mesenteric artery dissections.
• Discuss the role of ultrasound in the evaluation of mesenteric ischemia.
• Distinguish the normal Doppler appearance of hepatic vessels.
• Distinguish the sonographic appearance of common liver diseases.
• Review the normal and abnormal Doppler criteria related to TIPS shunts.
• Discuss the applications of Doppler US in renal vascular as well as parenchymal disease.
• Review the critical technical parameters which enable accurate diagnoses.
• Relate the important pitfalls in renal Doppler imaging.
• Distinguish the indications and contraindications for a liver transplant.
• Describe the relevant post-operative anatomy for an orthotopic liver transplant.
• Recognize and diagnose common vascular, biliary, and parenchymal complications related to the liver transplant in the postoperative period.
