OVERVIEW

A Closer Look at Difficult-to-Manage Diabetes – Is Cortisol at Play? is organized by Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists (ADCES).

Originally presented on: 10/22/2024
Expiration date: 10/22/2026

Description:
In this session, a panel of experts will share insights on two clinical cases where individuals with type 2 diabetes (T2D) are later diagnosed with hypercortisolism after recognitions of signs and symptoms associated with cortisol excess. These cases will serve as a foundation to discuss emerging data suggesting that individuals with particularly challenging-to-manage T2D may have a higher likelihood of hypercortisolism, which can contribute to hyperglycemia and increased cardiovascular risk. The panelists will explore the link between hypercortisolism and hyperglycemia, strategies for identifying individuals who might benefit from hypercortisolism screening, and the crucial role certified diabetes care and education specialists can play in patient identification and management.
