OVERVIEW

#7476 Managing Adult Patient Anxiety and Depression: Treatment Interventions for the Rehabilitation Professional is organized by MotivationsCEU.

Description:
Have you ever had that one patient that you felt like you could not get through to? Has your patient’s anxiety and/or depression ever resulted in a refusal or decreased participation in your session? We’ve all been there. Treating patients with anxiety and/or depression is complex, nuanced, and can pose challenges particularly when your chart review only names a physical diagnosis. This course provides meaningful insight into the most common themes of anxiety and depression seen by rehabilitation professionals in a variety of settings. We will discuss how to identify anxiety and depression in your most challenging patients utilizing the most time-efficient assessment tools. We will learn about the implications of mental health on your patients performance as it relates to functional mobility, ADL, and IADL participation. You will then learn how to develop an evidence-based treatment plan that accounts for your patient’s mental health needs. Lastly, we will discuss the role of sleep, rest, and an integrated collaborative framework to develop a well-rounded treatment plan for your patient. Course instruction method includes: lecture, demonstration, and question and answers.

Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  1. Define anxiety and depression as it relates to the rehabilitation framework.
  2. Identify the most common ways that anxiety and depression impacts functional mobility, ADLs, and IADL participation.
