This webinar will cover advanced Parkinson’s disease and Parkinsonism subtypes. This course is designed to improve your knowledge on the subtypes of Parkinsonism including Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Multiple System Atrophy, and Corticobasal degeneration. Learn screening tools and treatment strategies for oculomotor and autonomic dysfunction as well as recent evidence on assistive devices. A large portion of the class is also devoted to various movement strategies to improve amplitude of movement and reduce freezing of gait. We will include descriptions and pictures of interventions to have tools you can apply readily in the clinic or home setting.

Objectives:
Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  1. Apply various movement strategies and cueing techniques to reduce the effects of bradykinesia and hypokinesia on patients’ movement in the setting of advanced Parkinsonism.
  2. List common symptoms associated with the subtypes of Parkinsonism, including PSP and MSA, andapply appropriate screening tools specific to each condition to tailor interventions to the individual.
  3. Design a treatment plan to manage freezing of gait using movement, cognitive, and visual strategies.
  4. Prescribe various assist devices based on patient preference and the evidence of assistive devices and their effects on imbalance in the setting of Parkinson’s disease.
Credits

This is a 3-hour course equivalent to 3 CEU’s or 0.3 CEUs offered as a live webinar or selfstudy. For Live courses, the content is presented via an internet website displaying real time power points. Learners will receive a course instruction link. Instructors lecture through livestreaming internet on your computer. Questions may be asked during the webinar using the chat feature or the “raise hand” feature for live discussion.

For Recorded courses, learners will not be able to participate in real time with questions.
