Course Description:
Radiation protection is an essential component in any radiology department. This course reviews basic radiation biology, effects of radiation, and radiation protection principles. Breast and gynecologic imaging, two types of imaging unique to women, are important in that they image some of the most radiosensitive tissues in the human body. This course also reviews dose considerations in regard to breast and gynecologic imaging, as well as imaging pregnant or potentially pregnant patients and young and adolescent girls.

This course is based on the book Radiation Safety in Women’s Imaging, by Rachel Gruber, M.Div. This course has a corresponding test containing 28 multiple-choice and true/false questions.
