OVERVIEW

Effective infection control is critical to patient safety and public health in all healthcare settings. This 3-hour CE course equips Registered Nurses (RNs) with essential skills and current best practices to prevent and manage infections in clinical environments. The course focuses on understanding the principles of infection control and applying them to real-world healthcare challenges, including prevention of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).

Participants will gain practical knowledge in implementing standard and transmission-based precautions, proper hand hygiene techniques, the appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and environmental cleaning practices. The course also emphasizes the role of antimicrobial stewardship in combating antibiotic resistance and guides the management of infection control during outbreaks and pandemics. Nurses will be empowered to educate both colleagues and patients on infection prevention strategies, fostering a culture of safety and compliance. This course satisfies the New York State requirement for infection control continuing education for Registered Nurses.
