OVERVIEW

As the aging population continues to grow, the need for specialized geriatric care becomes more urgent. This 2-hour CE course for Registered Nurses (RNs) provides essential knowledge and practical strategies for delivering high-quality care to older adults across a variety of healthcare settings. Participants will explore age-related physiological and psychological changes and how these changes affect the management of chronic and acute conditions.

This course emphasizes holistic, patient-centered approaches that respect each older adult's autonomy, preferences, and cultural values. It covers key topics including dementia, depression, anxiety, fall prevention, polypharmacy, and chronic disease management. Through evidence-based techniques and interdisciplinary collaboration, nurses will gain skills to improve functional outcomes, promote independence, and reduce hospitalizations among elderly patients. RNs will leave with a deeper understanding of the complexities of aging and the confidence to provide compassionate, effective, and equitable care. This course fulfills the Texas Board of Nursing’s CE requirement for geriatric care.
