Course Description:
Knowledge of breast anatomy is fundamental to a mammographer’s skill set and important in creating quality mammographic projections. Written as an introductory course to breast anatomy and mammography, this course provides the radiographer with a review of both male and female breast anatomy; basic mammographic concepts such as patient communication, compression, localization of breast lesions, and reporting terminology; and a review of benign, malignant, and high risk breast conditions and pathologic correlations. This course is directly applicable towards the initial 40 total hours of training in mammography required by the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and covers breast anatomy and physiology.
