OVERVIEW

Curious Clinicians - From Vessel to Bone (2025-2026) is organized by VCU Health Continuing Education.

Wednesday, August 13, 2025, 5:00 PM - Thursday, December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM

Description:
Ever heard of bone forming inside blood vessels? Even if you haven’t heard it expressed in those exact words, you most likely have come across the concept of vascular calcification. And in certain instances, fully formed bone is precisely the endpoint of calcium deposition in vessels.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this activity, you will be able to:

  1. Describe the mechanism and role of vascular calcification.
  2. Apply the concept of vascular calcification to patients who undergo CT scans.
  3. Identify how to use the distinction between microcalcification and macrocalcification to explain why one lesion is more unstable than the other.
