OVERVIEW

The Cirrhotic Liver: A Case-Based Review Course is organized by Unilabs Academy and will be held from Sep 30 - Oct 02, 2026.

Description:
This online liver imaging course provides an interactive, case-based approach to CT and MRI evaluation of the cirrhotic liver. Participants will learn to recognise the imaging features of cirrhosis, differentiate common mimickers, apply the LI-RADS classification, and confidently assess focal liver lesions through real clinical cases.

The programme combines short lectures with interactive case discussions designed to simulate the experience of a multidisciplinary radiology reading room. Carefully selected typical, atypical, and challenging cases will help participants develop a structured diagnostic approach while improving reporting confidence.

Each session includes expert-guided case interpretation, group discussion, concise teaching summaries, and Kahoot quizzes to reinforce key learning points. Participants will also receive access to selected DICOM liver cases before the course for independent review.

Unilabs Academy online radiology courses are held in a virtual classroom environment on Zoom. Participants are encouraged to engage in discussions using their camera and microphone to recreate the face-to-face learning experience.

Within this small-group setting, participants can ask questions, discuss challenging cases, and learn directly from Prof. Giuseppe Brancatelli. Online sessions are recorded so they can be reviewed after the course.

Learning Objectives:

  • Confidently characterise focal lesions in the cirrhotic liver.
  • Recognise imaging features and common mimickers of cirrhosis.
  • Apply the LI-RADS classification in routine clinical reporting.
  • Develop a structured approach to CT and MRI interpretation of cirrhotic liver disease.

Programme will include:

  • Short lectures covering CT and MRI protocols, cirrhosis, LI-RADS, focal liver lesions, and common diagnostic pitfalls.
  • Interactive case-based interpretation of typical, atypical, and challenging liver cases.
  • Group discussion of differential diagnoses and reporting strategies.
  • Two Kahoot quizzes per day to reinforce learning.
  • Pre-course access to selected DICOM liver cases.
  • Plenty of time for Q&A with the radiologist mentor.
  • Access to presentation slides, session recordings, and other course materials.
