Course Description:
The theme for Pediatric Anesthesiology 2021 is “A Celebration of Women in Pediatric Anesthesiology.” Our intent in choosing this theme was threefold. Our first and most significant mission was to emphasize and recognize the immense expertise and contributions of women to our specialty and the perioperative care of children. Second, they endeavored to raise diversity and highlight the eminent place that women have in pediatric anesthesiology.

Education Mission Statement
The SPA-AAP Pediatric Anesthesiology 2021 Virtual Meeting will concentrate on topics of interest to those who offer anesthesia, sedation, pain management, and critical care services to infants and children. The complete goals for attendees of the program are to strengthen and enhance their existing fund of knowledge, and to introduce them to novel and state-of-the-art methods and information that affect their medical practice and enhance the perioperative/critical care of pediatric patients.

Scope & Types of Activities
This CME activity unites together experts from clinical and basic science disciplines associated with pediatric medicine, anesthesia, and surgery. General topic areas include anatomy, pathophysiology, anesthetic pharmacology, sedation, pain management, patient safety, and child advocacy. We will also discuss practice and career management issues. The presentation format is varied, and includes lectures, panel discussions and problem-based learning discussions.
