Every year, millions of Americans visit a healthcare provider with a neurologic complaint. These neurologic conditions may be encountered by neurologists, primary care providers and allied health professionals at any time, and updates in diagnostic criteria and treatment options are vital to the care of their diverse and aging patient population. For many neurologic conditions, early diagnosis and expedient treatment are vital to successful outcomes and the patient's quality of life, creating a need for up-to-date information regarding commonly encountered neurological diseases, including discussions of difficult cases, current controversies in clinical management and new research. There is ongoing need for providers to comprehend the significance and complications of different neurologic illnesses as well as the use of diagnostic tests and new treatments in development. Providers need to be aware of current management standards and the role of multidisciplinary teams. Ongoing research continues to lead to better understanding of neurologic conditions and more numerous and diverse treatment options. Attendees of this course will leave with updated information regarding diagnosis, treatment options and management techniques for a variety of neurologic conditions in order to provide optimal patient care, whether in their own offices or through accurate and informed referrals.

Objectives: 
By attending this course, the participant will provide better patient care through an increased ability to:
• Recognize typical symptoms of common neurologic conditions and describe how to differentiate them
• Perform meaningful neurological examinations and initiate appropriate diagnostic testing 
• Compare available treatment and management options and identify current criteria for prescribing medications
•  Analyze appropriate imaging when evaluating patients that may require •referral to a specialist and assess when referral is appropriate
• Anticipate common complications and risk factors and manage patient expectations regarding prognosis and rehabilitation
