OVERVIEW

Concussion Rehabilitation: A Self-Management Approach is organized by Dutch Institute of Allied Health Care / Nederlands Paramedisch instituut (NPi) and will be held on May 07, 2026.

Description:
Concussion/mild Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) can result in a wide range of symptoms and timeframes for recovery, making the diverse population and complex. Direct and indirect symptoms often interact, making it difficult to assess and treat clients with persistent symptoms. This course provides an in-depth and comprehensive pathway to assess and manage concussion symptoms, including complex presentations and persistent symptoms. Discussions and case studies will focus on understanding the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and foundations for recovery and will provide evidence-based assessment and treatment frameworks for managing gradual return to activity (exercise, sport, and work/school) and addressing persistent symptoms (such as dizziness, visual symptoms, headaches, neck pain, cognitive symptoms, and fatigue). Case studies allow for in-depth application of evidence and consolidation of learning to encourage self-management. This course is co-hosted by physiotherapist Nicole Acerra, PhD and occupational therapist Erin Hartnett.
