Learning Objectives:
• Identify the prevalence and pathogenesis of cardiorenal and atherosclerotic cardiovascular complications.
• Discuss current guidelines for optimal management of diabetic patients to prevent and treat cardiorenal and atherosclerotic complications.
• Examine the causes of inflammation in atherosclerosis.
• Target the mechanism of action and indications/contraindications of GLP1-agonists and SGLT2-inhibitors.
• Examine the modern therapies for Diabetic Kidney disease.
• Recognize the importance of multidisciplinary care in the management of heart disease in patients with diabetes, including collaboration between • • • • primary care providers, endocrinologists, cardiologists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Identify up to date effective treatment options for managing heart disease in patients with diabetes, including pharmacologic interventions such as beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors, mineralocorticoid antagonists, statins, GLP1-agonists and SGLT2 inhibitors.
