2023 California Breastfeeding Summit

California Breastfeeding Summit 2023 is organized by The California Breastfeeding Coalition (CBC) and will be held from Jan 24 - 26, 2023.

Who Should Attend:
• Hospital administrators, managers of maternity departments, and nurses in hospitals require resources and tools to carry out the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative and Model Hospital policies to enhance the quality of nursing support for lactation.
• Physicians and advanced healthcare professionals who wish to enhance the continuity of services to support families who breastfeed before birth and even after discharge from the hospital.
• Staff and leaders of local community clinics, community-based groups, local WIC programs, and public health departments that want the latest clinical research to improve breastfeeding support and have the chance to work with other hospitals and community health care providers to increase the quality of lactation support.
• Breastfeeding Coalition members (lactation advocates and professionals) who wish to connect and share the best practices across disciplines to increase overall efforts' effectiveness and ensure continuous care that supports families.
• Doulas, community educators advocates, doulas, and others like La Leche League Leaders, Nursing Mother's Counsel, and Breastfeeding USA counselors to lift the families' voices.

Why Attend the 2023 Virtual California Breastfeeding Summit?

The event is hosted through and organized by the California Breastfeeding Coalition; the California Breastfeeding Summit is the most prestigious statewide gathering of lactation advocates from each region in California's Golden State! The Summit serves as an opportunity for action, encouraging attendees to tackle the racism that is institutionalized and structural inequities in the care of lactation and help that hinder California families from fulfilling their goals of feeding their infants.

The Summit allows us to demonstrate the effectiveness of research, programs, and interventions to ensure the continuity of human milk-feeding assistance. Additionally, the Summit is an opportunity to learn about best practices, gain new skills, and acquire resources to collaborate and network with colleagues, peers, and exhibitors.

Summit Objectives:

Following the California Breastfeeding, attendees will be in a position to:

• Integrate breastfeeding and chest educational, promotional, and protection and support into current community health improvement strategies and a part of programs to promote health.
• Create environments that actively help, encourage, and protect chest and breastfeeding in areas where families can birth or reside, work or worship or shop, receive medical care, and raise children.
• Identify family-centered lactation support and policies that respond to the intersection of families' diverse identities, their health-related social determinants, and other influences on the infant's feeding journey.
• Engage in health advocacy and assume a champion position beyond the delivery of direct health services. Engage important decision-makers and key stakeholders to help identify and remove obstacles to breastfeeding and chestfeeding within institutions, systems, and the wider community.
