UCSF CME: 54th Advances and Controversies in Clinical Pediatrics 2021 is organized by University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine and will be held from May 12 - 15, 2021.

Overview:
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco invites you to attend the 54th Annual Advances & Controversies in Clinical Pediatrics, May 12-15, 2021 from 8 am - 1 pm PDT as a live stream webinar. The program endeavors to provide research, academic, and clinical information in a format that emphasizes the practical application of current concepts relevant to office practice and to professionals involved in the care of children. Pediatric, Family Practice and Emergency Room Physicians, as well as Physician Assistants, Nurses and Nurse Practitioners report that they consistently benefit from their participation in this program, where nationally recognized guest faculty present a series of lectures that are complemented by UCSF faculty and Bay Area experts speaking about a variety of other current or controversial pediatric issues, which will ultimately result in better care for children of all ages, infants through adolescents.

Objectives:
Upon completion of this conference, participants should be able to:
• Implement strategies for the diagnosis and management of foodborne illnesses, infections caused by pets, skin infections, pandemics, including Novel 2019 Coronavirus, MIS-C, and for appropriate vaccine administration;
• Apply advances and understand controversies in evidence based emergency medicine, emergency preparedness, foreign body removal and pediatric poisoning management;
• Recognize and utilize innovative strategies to manage anxiety, somatic symptom disorders and health disparities for marginalized minorities and other vulnerable groups
• Apply new information toward the evaluation and management of vaping associated lung disease, obstructive sleep apnea, asthma and food allergies;
• Understand and implement innovative approaches to the management of epilepsy, back pain and shoulder injuries;
• Apply evidence based advances and understand controversies regarding hearing screening, oral health and acne remedies;
• Discuss and counsel patients about immunotherapy, genetic testing, vaping, immunizations, and health care equity for underserved populations.
