PBII Research Symposium: Imaging Structure and Functions of Hippocampus is organized by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and will be held on Feb 25, 2022.
Target Audience:
Specialties - Child Life, Diagnostic Imaging, Endocrinology, Epidemiology and Cancer Control, Global Pediatric Medicine, Hematology, Neurology, Neuro-Oncology, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Pediatrics, Psychology/Psychiatry, Radiation Oncology, Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Survivorship
Overview:
To fill the practice gap related to the role imaging and imaging research can provide in the evaluation of cognition following cancer treatment, the benefit imaging research plays in the evaluation of side effects, and the role imaging can play regarding outcomes
Objectives:
• Describe the anatomy and physiology of hippocampus
• Explain the cognitive functions of hippocampus
• Outline the role of imaging in quantitative assessment of structures and functions of hippocampus
• Explain the mechanisms of hippocampal injury by cancer therapy
• Explain manifestations of hippocampal injury and how to measure them
• Evaluate and mitigate cognitive decline resulting from cancer therapy-induced hippocampal
