OVERVIEW
2026 California Breastfeeding Summit is organized by The California Breastfeeding Coalition (CBC) and will be held from Jan 27 - 29, 2026.
Description:
The overall goal of the summit is to be a catalyst for action, empowering you to address the structural and institutional racism and inequities of lactation care and support that prevent families from meeting their infant feeding goals.
The Summit enables us to present the effectiveness of programs, research, and interventions for continuity of care in human milk feeding support. In addition, the Summit is a forum for attendees to learn best practices, acquire new skills, gain resources, collaborate, and network with peers, colleagues, and exhibitors.
Summit Objectives:
After attending the California Breastfeeding, attendees will be able to:
- Integrate chest/breastfeeding education, promotion, protection and support into existing community health improvement strategies and as a component of health promotion programs.
- Create environments that proactively promote, protect and support chest/breastfeeding throughout the community in spaces where families birth, live, work, play, worship, shop, travel, receive medical services, and raise children.
- Identify family-centered lactation care and policies that are responsive to the intersectionality of families’ multiple identities, their social determinants of health, and other factors impacting their infant feeding journey.
- Participate in health advocacy activities and take on a champion role beyond the provision of direct services, by engaging key stakeholders and decision makers to identify and help remove structural barriers to chest/breastfeeding within systems, organizations, and the community.
