Description:
The 2026 Barrow Psychology Symposium aims to provide critical updates for psychologists working with individuals with a variety of medical conditions, including neurological diagnoses. The symposium will address present issues in ethics, anosognosia and denial, and utilizing CBT in patients with acquired brain injury.

Course Learning Objectives:

  • Identify three modern ethical dilemmas in inpatient rehabilitation settings, with at least one dilemma related to AI.
  • Demonstrate effective use of adaptations for cognitive behavioral therapy principles in individuals with an acquired brain injury to address mood, sleep, and pain complaints.
  • Identify the phenomena logical features that help separate anosognosia and impaired self-awareness from denial in patients with known or suspected brain disorders.
