Spring Journal Club: Infant Feeding Tracker Applications: Cross-Sectional Analys is organized by Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior (SNEB) and will be held on Apr 10, 2023.
Description:
We will present the reach of social media dissemination of a culturally-adapted evidence-based Kid’s Healthy Eating Plate to Spanish-speaking Latinos. Using adaptation frameworks and protocols, as well as reach metrics, is essential to demonstrate cultural appropriateness and social media engagement. We demonstrate that culturally-adapted healthy eating guidelines for Spanish-speaking children were worldwide after paid social media promotion, which may help close the digital divide and promote health literacy in diverse populations
Human milk is the ideal source of nutrition for most infants, yet rates of exclusive breastfeeding and breastfeeding to 12 months remain suboptimal in the US. Mobile health technologies can address some barriers to breastfeeding by offering tracking features, data on user behavior, and information. This presentation will review the use of mobile applications (“apps”) for tracking infant feeding. Characteristics of app users, app features most used and desired by postpartum mothers, and app features most frequently available within these apps will be presented.
