Rethinking First-line Treatments for Mild Depression: The Potential Role of Nutraceuticals: February 2025 is organized by Healio.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn about the clinical use of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) in managing depression.
  2. Understand the role of omega-3 PUFAs in gut microbiota modulation and their potential therapeutic applications in treatment of major depressive disorder and obesity.
  3. Become familiar with the current evidence on the efficacy, mechanisms of action, and clinical implications of vitamin D supplementation in the treatment of major depressive disorder.
  4. Comprehend the role of implementation science in bridging the gap between research and clinical practice in nutritional psychiatry, while identifying barriers to integrating nutritional interventions into mental health care and exploring strategies to overcome these challenges through interdisciplinary collaboration, clinician education, and emerging technologies for improved mental health outcomes.
