Description:
Essentials Courses are sessions captured at past RSNA Annual Meetings. General radiologists, residents, and other subspecialists who want to review other areas of radiology may be interested in taking these online courses. Most courses include an audio-visual presentation, as well as a corresponding transcript. Essentials courses are free to members.

Objectives:
• Define the study of informatics.
• Describe how informatics relates to radiology practice and management.
• Identify opportunities to apply informatics to your radiology practice.
• Describe the technical steps required to develop and implement dashboards and scorecards (including data/state aggregation, semantic normalization, modeling, data mining and presentation) will be discussed.
• Discuss specific strategies and technologies that can be used to create dashboards and scorecards (including HL7, DICOM, ETL, web services and SOA) will be illustrated.
• Identify strategies to create a sustainable and agile architecture to support advanced business intelligence and analytics (BIA) tools will be explored.
• Describe basic fundamentals of the most common social media platforms.
• Identify how social media is changing consumer behavior.
• Explain the concept of social media authority and online brand.
