Description:
The purpose of this activity is for the learner to become more familiar with the clinical use of electroencephalography (EEG) when monitoring depth of anesthesia.

Learning Outcomes:
• Review the history and development of processed electroencephalography (pEEG).
• Describe the characteristics strengths and limitations of popular pEEG monitors.
• Understand the clinical conditions that affect the accuracy and reliability of pEEG monitors.
• Review the evidence of the pEEG monitors ability/inability to prevent awareness with recall in patients under general anesthesia.
• Discuss electroencephalography (EEG) spectrogram anesthetic signature analysis.
