2026 Evidence-Based Drug Therapy Update is organized by Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Office of Continuing Medical Education and will be held from May 07 - 08, 2026 at Crowne Plaza Charleston Airport - Conv Ctr, an IHG Hotel, North Charleston, South Carolina, United States of America.

Description:
The Evidence-Based Drug Therapy Update is designed to assist primary care providers with the how, when and why to consider the application of new knowledge and/or new medications where appropriate based upon the evidence that is available at the time. Areas where considerable new information and/or medications have become available in the last year will be included in this update.

Statement of Purpose
Our primary goal is to provide these practitioners with the most appropriate, up-to-date, cost-effective and evidence-based pharmacotherapy information so that they can apply this information to the care of their patients. Our overall goal is to assist these providers in obtaining the best patient oriented outcomes for their patients.

Topics will include:

  • COPD
  • Asthma
  • Resistant hypertension
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Updates in Hospital Medicine
  • Immunizations
  • Medical Management for Obesity
  • Substance use disorder
  • Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) vs. metabolic dysfunction-associated steatoheaptitis (MASH)
  • Geriatrics
  • Hormone replacement therapy (including both women's and men's health)
  • Lipid management (less focused on clincial trials)
  • Social determinants of health and primary care access in rural areas
  • New Drug Update 2024-2025
