OVERVIEW
Acute and Chronic Renal Failure VT26 is organized by Uppsala University and will be held from Mar 02 - 06, 2026 in Uppsala, Uppland, Sweden.
Overall goals:
To provide knowledge about causes, diagnostics, management and treatment, as well as prevention regarding acute and chronic renal failure.
Results for the participant:
After completing the course, the participant is expected to be able to:
- explain the causes and treatment of acute and chronic renal failure
- describe the different dialysis methods, bag dialysis and hemodialysis, and when dialysis should start
- investigate, assess and explain the management of acute renal failure
- summarize the mechanisms, symptoms and treatment of the disorders that chronic renal failure can cause
- briefly describe the most important tubulointerstitial kidney diseases and their treatment options
- explain drug and antibiotic treatment for impaired renal function
- assess further management of a patient with multi-organ failure and renal failure requiring intensive care
- describe urological aspects of impaired renal function
- describe who undergoes kidney transplantation and the risks involved in transplantation
