8th Annual Updates in General Surgery is organized by Cleveland Clinic Center for Continuing Education and will be held from Jan 30 - Feb 02, 2026 at Viewline Resort Snowmass, Autograph Collection, Snowmass Village, Colorado, United States of America.

Technology for general surgery is constantly evolving. This course will provide an interactive and comprehensive experience focusing on management and treatment options from a general surgical perspective.
The goal of the Cleveland Clinic presents Updates in General Surgery is to provide an atmosphere to foster collaboration, innovation and sharing a cost-effective diagnostic approach for patients with complex general surgery cases involving hernia, colorectal and acute care surgery. Breast, cholecystectomy, biliary, oncological, endoscopy, and GI-related topics will also be discussed, along with a variety of topics affecting the rural/community surgeon.
We will cover what is new in enhanced recovery protocols and offer interactive sessions consisting of cases and questions and answers. American Board of Surgery (ABS) and American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) self-assessment credits will be offered. Great refresher course for ABSITE training exam.
Educational Objectives:
After completing this educational activity, the participant will be able to do the following:
- Describe the indications and contraindications for managing various cases of ventral and inguinal hernia repairs
- Discuss management strategies for biliary disease, including surgical and endoscopic therapies
- Identify management and prevention strategies for common bile duct stones, biliary injuries, and difficult cholecystectomies
- Review management of incidentalomas
- Describe management of surgical treatment of common breast pathologies
Outline the steps involved in establishing and maintaining a rural surgery practice - Discuss management strategies for surgical emergencies in obstetrics and pediatrics in a rural surgery setting
- Describe pros and cons of managing appendicitis with surgery versus conservatively
- Identify the algorithm for emergence surgery on a patient with intraperitoneal free air
- Outline how to manage traumatic injuries with limited resources
- Describe the principles of stabilization after traumatic injuries and transfer to higher level of care
- Identify resuscitative strategies in acute trauma patients
- Discuss evidence-based and cost-effective diagnostic approach for patients with common benign and malignant colorectal cases
- Identify emergency airway control in under resourced areas
