Studies show our brains can be rewired to enhance development. MRI, FMRI and CT scans show some of the abnormalities of the central nervous system. Reaching past physical dysfunction to look into the nervous system may reveal pathways for more effective treatments. Viable sensory and motor pathways are essential to utilize Neuroplasticity techniques for rewiring sensory-motor functions. This course will attend to multiple diagnoses including complex neurologically impaired diagnoses, Down syndrome, congenital hypotonia, spastic quadriplegia, mixed tone and central nervous system dysfunctions, malformed lobes and more. Attention to primitive reflex impairments of the face, mouth, tongue posture, swallowing and how to use techniques in a treatment session. Neurological progression of low or high tone for more active neck, trunk, upper and lower extremity functional motion. 

This hands on seminar will teach the practitioner deeper functional knowledge through neurological testing, neuroplasticity treatment, novel activities to promote successful therapy sessions. This is applicable to PT, OT, SLP with tone changes and primitive reflex integration from the mouth to the toes. This course will delve into the layers of the brain in an understandable way. Neuroplasticity techniques change central nervous system functions in an orderly fashion. Neuroplasticity methods of how, why and what works will be demonstrated and practiced.

Lectures, lab and live demonstrations with the client and therapist will help drive in skills through visual, auditory and kinesthetic learning styles. Evidence-based advanced multi-sensory techniques, case study presentation, hands-on practice in the course as well as take home exercise program ideas will all supply the attendee with tools that can be easily integrated into the clinic or home the next day. Learn how therapy can change the brain and how neuroplasticity can change the challenges in a child’s development with Dr. Karen Pryor as your guide. Demonstration during the last hour of the seminar, Dr. Karen Pryor will work with a treating therapist with their patient. Instruction will be given on Neuroplasticity techniques and Primitive Reflex integration techniques. Specifics will be given on how to decrease high tone and discuss mixed tone challenges and treatments

• Explain the relationship between primitive reflex retention and cognitive function, particularly in relation to academic performance and learning disabilities.
• Compare the effectiveness of various reflex integration exercises by measuring improvements in motor coordination and sensory processing in children with developmental delays.
• Apply neuroplasticity-based interventions to restore functional strength and improve gross motor skills, demonstrating a measurable impact on patient outcomes.
• Observe and apply techniques from live demonstration of child with challenges.
