2nd Annual Conference in Bedside Medicine is organized by Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine - Office of Continuing Medical Education and will be held from Nov 13 - 14, 2026 at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago, Illinois, United States of America.

Description:
The Conference in Bedside Medicine will be a 2-day skills-symposium to teach bedside clinical skills, including communication, physical exam, ultrasound and other technology-based activities. The target audience will be faculty and trainees who are interested in improving their bedside skills and learning how to be more effective teachers at the bedside.

Objectives:

  • Identify the current state of the bedside encounter.
  • Incorporate a hypothesis driven approach to the bedside encounter.
  • Practice and teach hands-on beds skills including observation, domain-specific physical exam techniques (cardiac, gastrointestinal, endocrine, neurologic, pulmonary, musculoskeletal, dermatologic), and advanced communication skills.
  • Summarize the importance of technology, including the use of point-of-care devices (POCUS, digital stethoscopes) and artificial intelligence, in enhancing the bedside encounter.
  • Restate the importance of direct observation of real patient encounters to improve clinical skills.
  • Identify the power of the bedside beyond diagnosis including connecting with patients, enhancing professional fulfilment, addressing healthcare disparities.
