Description:
Few interventions are shown to effectively help stimulate memory, cognition, and mood in older adults with mild to moderate dementia. Originally developed from the UK, Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) is an evidence based approach to stimulate memory of participants in an interactive psychosocial group setting. This training, given by expert facilitators in CST, will provide the background of CST, the techniques of the group, and areas to consider when implementing this in one's practice.
Objectives:
- Introduce the risks and lack of interventions for individuals with mild to moderate dementia.
- Describe the details and skills about Cognitive Stimulation Therapy as an intervention.
- Apply these skills from the CST intervention to groups at different care and practice sites.
