OVERVIEW

31st Annual Congress of the German Society for Radiation Oncology is organized by German Society for Radiation Oncology e. V / Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Radioonkologie (DEGRO) e. V., Congress and Culture Management GmbH / Kongress- und Kulturmanagement GmbH (KUKM) and will be held from Jun 19 - 21, 2025 at Dresden Trade Fair (MESSE DRESDEN GmbH), Dresden, Saxony, Germany.

Description:
Future-oriented radiotherapy includes its targeted use and continuous development: high-precision techniques as well as proven techniques for symptom relief, multimodal approaches taking into account radiogenic immune modulation and individual tumor biology, networked support services for our patients as well as radiation planning based on artificial intelligence and optimized imaging.

The increasing complexity associated with such approaches places high demands on the training of the various professional groups, on their collaboration within the radio-oncology treatment teams and on the collaboration between clinics and practices. As a team, we must seize the opportunity to further develop ourselves and our field in order to provide the best possible treatment for patients.

As doctors, we can only drive such developments forward together with our patients. How do patients weigh up the chances of recovery against the risks of therapy-related side effects? How can we best inform patients about this? Can studies and treatments be planned in such a way that they take patients' decisions into account as best as possible?

During the DEGRO Congress 2025, we will focus on the "Radiooncology Team" to show what we can achieve through a cooperative approach and networked thinking in oncology. We will also pay particular attention to the team spirit when designing the congress program in order to focus on the perspective of patients as well as the special knowledge of the various professions that work together in radiooncology.

Key topics:
The focus of the congress will be on teamwork within the field of radiation oncology. The importance of collaboration and interdisciplinary exchange is particularly important in order to ensure the best possible care for our patients. At the same time, the topics "tailor-made, patient-centered, future-oriented" will also be dealt with intensively.

  • Interprofessional collaboration: Focus on strengthening the team and promoting effective collaboration between different professions in radiation oncology to ensure holistic patient care.
  • Patient-centered care: Emphasis on the importance of care tailored to the individual needs and preferences of patients, taking into account quality of life, psychosocial aspects and long-term consequences.
  • Innovation and Technology: Introducing new developments and technologies in radiation oncology, including advanced treatment methods, imaging techniques and artificial intelligence to improve treatment outcomes and patient safety.
  • Research and translation: Discussion of current research results and their translation into clinical practice to ensure evidence-based care and advance future developments.
  • Professional development and leadership: Offers for continuing education and development of leadership skills for all professional groups in radiation oncology in order to successfully meet the challenges of a constantly evolving work environment.
  • Patient empowerment and self-determination: Promoting self-determination and participation of patients in their treatment, as well as support in coping with psychosocial stress during the treatment process.
