26th Annual Oregon Geriatrics Society (OGS) Conference is organized by Oregon Geriatrics Society (OGS) and will be held from Oct 02 - 05, 2025 at Sunriver Resort, Sunriver, Oregon, United States of America.

Description:
Our Annual Conference, held every October in Sunriver, OR, is of national quality which continues to attract health care professionals to garner high level education in the care for the older adult. This Conference is an opportunity to learn from professionals who share their knowledge on topics such as long-term care, palliative medicine, health policy, geriatrics literature updates, pharmacology, and pain management. The Conference is designed for a variety of health care professionals who work with older adults in various care settings. Other highlights of Annual Conference include a Poster Competition, Silent Auction to support our Scholarship Program, and Networking.

Objectives: 

  • Understand clinical/educational impacts of statewide program advancing age & dementia friendly care and opportunities for age-friendly education partnerships in tribal, underserved, rural communities. 
  • Learn evidence-based standards in COPD/asthma management & strategies for managing acute respiratory symptoms due to poor air quality. Review common voiding abnormalities, presentation and management. Identify different historical models for medical decision making & explore paradigm of shared decision making. 
  • Appraise recently published studies on care of older adults. Learn of new Age-Friendly Hospital quality measure from CMS. Describe & learn age-friendly health system model. Understand regulatory requirements for use of psychoactive medications s in long-term care. 
  • Describe head/neck cancer & considerations for assessment/treatment. Review death certification strategies & understand cause, manner, & mechanism of death. Review integrating medical aid in dying into comprehensive hospice program. Learn effects of climate change. 
  • Learn long-term care options for informed recommendations. Describe reasons for annual hearing evaluations. Learn National & Oregon landscape on Alzheimer’s & dementia on prevalence, healthcare, workforce, and caregiving. Review essentials of preoperative evaluations for Parkinson’s Disease & strategizing risk reduction opportunities. Understand specific aging & end-of-life care needs of LGBT2QI+ community. Comfortably discuss end-of-life preferences & care with LGBTQI+ individuals/families. 
  • Understand ocular disorders. Learn demographics/history perspective of older 2SLGBTQ+. Describe up-to-date guidelines of antithrombotic therapy in PALTC. Review Oregon health & aging policy passed in 2025 & legislation on horizon impacting geriatrics. Describe systematic approach to chronic wounds & best practices for wound dressings. Understand Oregon's growing older adult population, disparities in health, housing, workforce, & caregiving.
