2025 MedStar Health Esophageal Symposium is organized by MedStar Health and will be held on Nov 08, 2025 at Bethesda Marriott, Bethesda, Maryland, United States of America.

Description:
This interdisciplinary live conference will bring together a distinguished faculty of experts to discuss the clinical management and research of patients with esophageal disorders. Attendees will gain insights into identifying the pathophysiology associated with esophageal conditions, as well as guidance on appropriate testing, indications for medical therapy, and available endoscopic and surgical treatment options. Additionally, the conference will highlight the current standards of care and innovative treatment approaches for esophageal disorders being implemented at MedStar Health.

Objectives:
After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Describe the pathophysiology of refractory GERD and recognize the role of GERD in pulmonary disease.
  • Explore the indications for surgical and endoscopic interventions for GERD.
  • Identify the clinical features, diagnostic, and therapeutic approaches for Achalasia.
  • Diagnose and manage Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EOE) and review current treatment guidelines for EOE.
  • Implement screening modalities for Barrett’s Esophagus and discuss the indications and limitations of different diagnostic approaches.
  • Apply the current standards for endoscopic surveillance and treatment of Barrett’s Esophagus, including the role of ablative therapies.
  • Review the surgical treatment options for advanced Barrett's Esophagus and esophageal carcinoma and discuss the challenges in the management of these patients.
  • Examine the medical and surgical management strategies for Gastroparesis, including the use of pharmacologic, dietary and surgical interventions.
