Overview:
This annual educational symposium is proud to update our medical community on the state-of-the-art care of gastric cancer, and retroperitoneal sarcomas while focusing on the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of these rare and complicated disease entities. National and international renowned guest speakers and distinguished faculty, including those from MedStar Health and MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute will discuss the significant roles of precision medicine, evolving new diagnostic modalities, immune, regional, and molecular targeted therapies, and the use of state-of-the art radiotherapeutics in these rare and complex cancers. This symposium will also highlight evolving role of cytoreductive surgery for advanced gastric cancer.

Learning Objectives:
After completing this activity, the participant will be able to:
• Discuss novel imaging techniques for gastric cancer and retroperitoneal sarcomas.
• Identify the diagnostic and therapeutic role of endoscopy in gastric cancer.
• Recognize the importance of molecular markers and ct-DNA in the diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer.
• Utilize recommendations from current molecular targeted therapy and immunotherapies for gastric cancer, including controversial areas such as MSI-high gastric cancer.
• Recognize the role and indications for radiation therapy in the treatment of retroperitoneal sarcomas.
• Discuss the role of surgery in treating retroperitoneal sarcomas and gastric cancer.
• Discuss the emerging roles of systemic and targeted therapies in retroperitoneal sarcomas.
• Identify the roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team involved in the collaborative care of patients with gastric cancer and retroperitoneal sarcomas.
• Integrate a team-based approach in the care of patients with gastric cancer and retroperitoneal sarcomas.
