Neuro-Developmental Treatment Association (NDTA) Contemporary Practice Model™ Certificate Course in the Management of Adults with Stroke and Brain Injury

The Contemporary Practice ModelTM Certificate Course in the Management of Adults with Stroke and Brain Injury is organised by the Neuro-Developmental Treatment Association (NDTA) and will be held at OhioHealth Eastside Health Center in Columbus, Ohio, United States of America from January 27 to April 24, 2022.

Description:
Physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists who work with adults and children with movement disorders caused by neuromuscular deficits can take NDTA Certificate courses.

The Certificate Course's core curriculum comprises didactic content, practical lab work in which participants practise problem solving and intervention strategy application, instructor-led treatment demonstrations, and mentored clinical practise with a variety of clients.

All therapists learn to address each client holistically after being trained in the NDT concept as an interdisciplinary team approach. The same course material is covered by all therapists, regardless of discipline. They diagnose and treat clients with neuromuscular problems throughout the course to get a complete understanding of each person's underlying posture and mobility deficits, as well as the functional repercussions. This allows them to have a better understanding of the "whole" client and build basic handling abilities.

Attendance criteria must be met by all participants, achieving course objectives successfully, perform effective evaluations, devise effective intervention strategies, plan and carry out effective treatment strategies and pass the standardised final test as well as the competencies. The NDTA certificates of completion are awarded once the course has been completed.

• An understanding of effective and ineffective posture and movement, and their impacts on a client's functional ability/limitations, is essential.
