Comprehensive Bio-Skills Lab 2022 is organized by the Spine Intervention Society (SIS) and will be held from Jul 16 - 17, 2022 at Science Care, Long Beach, California, United States of America.
Target Audience
This live activity has been designed for physicians who perform spine intervention procedures.
Before moving on to cervical treatments and other advanced interventional procedures, the Spine Intervention Society highly encourages that members become adept in the lumbar spine.
Description:
In this hands-on lab, you can choose the techniques that you wish to learn and work side-by-side with expert instructors. You will spend over 11 hours in lab rotations and receive small-group instruction (except neuromodulation) on techniques from SIS's Practice Guides for Spinal Diagnostic & Therapy Procedures
Lab instruction only is provided in this course. Lectures are not included.
Hands-On Lab Techniques Include:
• Cervical, Thoracic, and Lumbar:
1. Transforaminal Injections
2. Intra-articular Zygapophysial Joint Injections
3. Interlaminar Epidural Injections
4. Medial Branch Blocks
5. Disc Access
6. Radiofrequency Neurotomy
• C1-C2 Atlanto-Axial Joint Injection
• Sacroiliac Joint Injection
Educational Objectives:
As a result of completing this course, participants should be able to:
• Determine the anatomy relevant from an imaging representation;
• Refer to the patient's history and imaging for a probable diagnosis of the spinal condition causing the patient pain or dysfunction;
• Give details of literature supporting the effectiveness of the procedures;
• Determine the benefits and risks of each procedure. Also, assess, prevent, and treat any potential complications;
• Use safe fluoroscopic guidance to ensure correct spinal procedures. This will minimize tissue injury and discomfort.
