Description:
The 8-hour course will include self-interpretation of 200 examples of tomosynthesis at the workstation, as additional tomosynthesis-related lecture material all throughout the day. It is expected that you keep track of the number of tomosynthesis cases you've read and the amount of time you're spending doing it since this counts towards the FDA-mandated minimum of 8 hours.
Educational Goals:
To complete the educational course, students will be better equipped to:
• Apply renewed and enhanced perception skills to interpret the results of screenings using mammography.
• Be aware of new ideas in breast histology and also new nomenclature for in-situ and invasive breast cancers that have resulted.
Perform a more thorough analysis of the anomalies found during screening, and also the correct use of specific mammographic images, ultrasonography, MR as well as other imaging methods.
• Assess the status of breast surgery intervention including the core biopsy.
Use stereotactic, ultrasound, or core needles that are MR-guided to collect a biopsy from the breast.
• Define the increasing importance of Breast MR in everyday breast imaging as well as its use for screening patients at high risk as well as the function that has been added to the shortened breast MR.
• Interpret up to 300 digital mammograms from workstations. Documentation is required to achieve certification or recertification for mammography as per MQSA.
• Acquire ACR certification to interpret breast MR by the interpretation of up to 200 exam results.
• Receive up to 8 hours of interactive Tomosynthesis instruction and use it to fulfill the FDA's requirements of eight hours of education to perform as well as interpret the results of Tomosynthesis.
• Be aware that mammography and contrast enhancement are being increasingly used to identify breast cancer.
