Ultrasound technology has evolved rapidly over the past decade, and it continues to evolve. It is used in radiology, clinical physiology, obstetrics / gynecology, gastroenterology, urology, emergency medicine and several other specialties. Ultrasound is a method that involves no radiation and often enables a quick diagnosis (eg DVT, ascites, pleural fluid) that can facilitate the handling of patients in different disciplines.
The aim of the course is to give an introduction to diagnostic ultrasound and provide basic knowledge to conduct bedside examinations with simple but clinically very relevant issues.
The course includes two days of lectures and practical exercises. The lectures deal with theory and introduction to ultrasound examinations of the abdomen, heart, vessels etc. Even simple protocols such as FAST (Focused Assessment with Sonography in Trauma) will be practiced.v
The aim of the course is to give doctors without previous experience of diagnostic ultrasound the opportunity to perform simple ultrasound examinations that are recorded in a standardized manner.
Results for the participant
The aim of the course is to give physicians without previous experience in diagnostic ultrasound examinations the ability to perform ultrasound examinations to assess the spleen, liver, intestines, kidneys, bladder, pancreas and heart.
Participants will learn a systematic way to conduct surveys and to be recorded in a systematic way.
Results for patient and society
The aim of the course is to contribute to faster processing and increased precision in diagnostics with a more efficient flow of patients. In addition to this, the long-term aim is to reduce the load on imaging devices and to reduce the use of methods that involve a radiation risk (X-ray and computed tomography).
Note: The course is organized in collaboration with Santax Medico AB. The content of the course is independent of the company.
