This conference will provide a comprehensive review of selected topics in pediatrics for pediatricians, family practitioners, and other health care professionals who care for infants, children, and adolescents. Our outstanding faculty will present current clinical challenges and recent advances in selected pediatric subspecialty areas: dermatology, infectious diseases, developmental-behavioral pediatrics, cardiology, and pulmonology & asthma.

Course Objectives:
At the conclusion of this activity participants will be able to identify, assess and manage common clinical issues in the areas of dermatology, infectious diseases, cardiology, developmental-behavioral pediatrics, and pulmonology & sleep medicine including:
• Identify the history and physical exam findings which can help distinguish benign chest pain from life-threating chest pain in children.
• Categorize skin lesions into major groups and interpret basic skin findings to generate a rational differential diagnosis.
• Apply the CDC recommendations for influenza vaccine and appropriately prescribe antiviral prophylaxis and treatment.
• Counsel parents on the most up-to-date recommendations for safe infant sleep and the importance of adhering to these recommendations.
• Develop an evidence-based strategy for non-stimulant medications for ADHD, determining when and how to use atomoxetine and alpha agonists.

The overall learning need identified for this conference is for practical, evidence-based medicine that can be applied in the clinical setting.
